Support FAQ Home
I receive an error message "An I/O
error occurred while installing a file." What should I do?
There are a couple possible causes of this. Please investigate each of
these.
1) The CD is dirty or damaged. Turn the CD over and clean it with a soft
damp cotton rag. Make sure there are no scratches or marks. Try and
install again.
2) Your computer needs to be restarted to recognize the CD drive
correctly. Something has caused the CD drive drivers to malfunction.
Restart and try the installation again.
3) Your CD drive is not compatible with the CD medium (CD disk we ship).
Although rare, this does happen. Obviously, if we ship a new CD to you,
this will not solve the problem. You can try a method that "gets
around" the CD.
a) Copy the contents of the CD to another CD and try that new CD in your drive.
b) Copy the contents of the CD to a memory stick and try the install from a
memory stick.
c) Download the software from our website directly to your desktop and install
the software this way
4) We can ship you a new CD. However, this may not solve the problem with
your computer.
